Wednesday, 21 September 2016, Commissioner Wilson from the Fair Work Commission issued a decision approving the variation to the 2015 Ambulance Victoria Enterprise Agreement (Agreement). The variation to the Agreement is effective from today.

The Senate is holding an inquiry into the provisions of the Fair Work Amendment (Respect for Emergency Services Volunteers) Bill 2016. The proposed legislation is poorly drafted and dangerous.

On, 26 July 2016, the Andrews Government approved the variation to the 2015 Ambulance Victoria Enterprise Agreement (Agreement). Members now have the opportunity to endorse the Agreement as it goes through the ballot process outlined below.

The Union acknowledges the significant amount of work going into dispatch reform by Ambulance Victoria. Many of our members have been involved in this process which will no doubt bring significant improvements to ambulance response times and service to the community. However, recently members have raised concerns about experiencing an increase in spoilt or late meal breaks and incidental overtime. The Union reminds members of their rights under their Enterprise Agreement.

Recently a member raised concerns about a Graduate Paramedic being asked to single respond to cases. Following a post on the AEAVIC Members Facebook page, it appears that this has been occurring often across the State and in some cases Graduates have even been rostered to work alone.

Recently a number of AEAV members attempted to negotiate with NPT with regard to the changes in their rosters at Wantirna Branch. The proposed changes would have left these members with less annual leave and less penalty rate shifts than they were currently working. The members sought Union advice and together we again attempted to negotiate with NPT on their behalf.
