AVEA Implementation Working Group

On the 21st of January 2021 AV held the first meeting of the AVEA Implementation Working Group. The group is set up to address issues that were not resolved in the EA negotiations. These include AOD Policy and Procedure, Spares, Meal Breaks, MICA rostering, Ops Comms functions and other topics. In the first year of the agreement the focus is on AOD and Spares.

The primary outcome of the inaugural meeting was for the representative bodies to submit to AV their recommendations regarding AOD changes, which were required prior to the 2nd meeting. The AEAV submitted their list of 19 recommendations on 22 April 2021. The 2nd meeting was then held on 3 May 2021. In the last week the AEAV requested AV progress this matter. With no formal acknowledgement by AV of the risk and no controls in place to ensure that those who test positive as a result of occupational exposure are protected from persecution, we are concerned that further harm will be done whilst we wait for changes to the unjust and draconian AOD Policies and Procedures.

On Friday 11 June 2021 the final representative submission was provided to AV and we are relieved to say that a 3rd meeting has now been scheduled for 29 June 2021.
