United Workers Union members raised ongoing concerns about safety at the Ambulance Victoria Sunshine Hub, after another incident highlighted unresolved security risks at the workplace.
Workers have reported that the frosted glass at the office entrance prevents them from seeing who is outside before allowing access. This issue has been raised repeatedly, but members say no effective solution has been implemented.
The concern is particularly serious for employees working alone or with limited staffing. Members have reported previous interactions with members of the public and say current arrangements leave workers unable to properly assess risks before someone enters the workplace.
On the 1 July 2026, UWU called for urgent action from Ambulance Victoria, including an immediate review of workplace security risks, interim measures to protect workers while longer-term solutions are developed, and genuine consultation with employees and Health and Safety Representatives.
The union has made clear that workers should not have to rely on emergency responses after a risk has already emerged. Preventative safety measures must be put in place to ensure employees can work in a safe and secure environment.
UWU will continue to advocate for members and push for the safety improvements needed at the Sunshine Hub.
