Union Calls for Fuel Price Relief

UWU has called for urgent action from AV amid the fuel crisis, demanding that AV suspend its current work‑from‑home office attendance requirements. Travel to work is imposing unnecessary financial pressure on staff due to the creased cost of petrol. Additionally, the union has also sought a temporary increase to the flexible shift allowance for reserve, and other flexi paramedics, whose roles require significant travel at short notice.

Despite the unions’ continued advocacy and increasing fuel prices, AV has been silent. This silence is in stark contrast to AV’s messaging about valuing and caring for the wellbeing of its workforce. Union members are wondering whether the people choosing not to respond are insulated by the privileges of company-funded vehicles?

For many paramedics and support staff, the issue is simple: genuine care requires action, not empty words.
