Ambulance Victoria COVID vaccination message

The below message was provided to us by Ambulance Victoria to disseminate to members regarding COVID vaccinations. If you have any questions or concerns about the current arrangements for AV operational staff, please reach out to the AEAV on 9287 1713 or via email at [email protected]

Getting vaccinated is a critical step in protecting yourselves, your family and our broader community.

A reminder that the Victorian Government’s ‘first dose Pfizer blitz’ for healthcare workers is underway. There are still priority appointments available as part of the blitz for healthcare workers, which includes all of AV’s operational staff. These appointments won’t last long so get in quick!

To book your appointment as part of the blitz, call the Victorian Coronavirus Hotline on 1800 675 398 (press 1, 1, 1). These appointments are not available online.

The Pfizer vaccine is now available for healthcare workers of any age group. So if you are aged 60 and over, and haven’t yet received your first dose, you may be able to choose between the Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines (depending on availability at your local/preferred clinic). More information on vaccine eligibility can be found on the Victorian Government’s Coronavirus website.

Please also remember that having a second vaccine dose is absolutely essential, giving you optimal protection against severe COVID and reducing the risk of being admitted to hospital by over 90%. If you’ve had your first dose of Pfizer or AstraZeneca without serious complications, it is safe to have your second as planned.

Finally, a few people have reported they’ve had trouble updating AV’s Employee Kiosk with their vaccination details. See attached a quick guide with the simple steps to follow.

Please keep an eye on AV’s COVID-19 website for the latest updates on vaccinations.
