AV Support Staff Made History!

On 3 December 2025, United Workers Union (UWU) support staff at Ambulance Victoria made history. For the first time ever, AVMA-covered support staff collectively stopped work to demand what’s fair.
Watch UWU members taking historic action!
They didn’t whisper. They didn’t wait. UWU members marched to Treasury and stood outside and made themselves seen and heard.
UWU proudly demanded:
  • A 4% annual pay increase
  • A proper progression structure – just like paramedics
Support Staff aren’t the “back office.” They are essential to Victoria’s emergency ambulance service. Every truck prepped, every paramedic trained, bill processed, administrative task completed, paramedic rostered – it’s Support Staff. Without support staff there is no ambulance service!
Without Support Staff, Ambulance Victoria Stops.
AV still hasn’t put an offer on the table. Christmas is 21 Days away, UWU members will head into 2026 with no clarity, no fairness, no justice.
If workers are silent, nothing changes. When we turn up together and force the issue, we show the government that they can’t ignore us.
That’s why UWU members are calling on every union member, every support staffer across the service to join us in 21 Days of Action!
Wednesday 3 December 2025 was only the first act. From little things, big things grow. Worker solidarity, visibility, and unity – that’s how we win.
Union affiliation doesn’t divide us. It’s solidarity that unites us. Let’s stand together and take coordinated action!
