AV’s AVMA Log of Claims

On Tuesday 29 April, AV provided their log of claims (LOC) to employees via email – some members have struggled to locate the LOC. The subject line of the email is: AVMA 2025 – Bargaining commences for our new Ambulance Victoria (Management and Administrative Staff) Enterprise Agreement

Reviewing AV’s LOC provides insight into AV’s current position as we enter enterprise bargaining.

AV has presented a range of claims with an emphasis on inclusion, equity and updates to reflect current workplace expectations and legal frameworks. AV is also seeking to incorporate several clause updates from the Operational Agreement into the AVMA. These are considered low-cost additions and include provisions for organ donor leave, gender affirmation leave, six months leave without pay, and the establishment of employee engagement forums.

In terms of standardisation, AV is aiming to align clauses int he Operational Agreement such as procedural fairness, anti-discrimination, bullying and harassment, and the right to request flexible work. It’s worth noting that AV has proposed a portable Commuted Availability Allowance (CAA) which is contentious due to the risk of its long-term application for staff.

Finally, additional value ranges for Grade 7 roles which currently do not affect UWU members.

Interesting Fact: a person can donate up to five organs in their lifetime, though we don’t anticipate seeing an influx of this benefit being utilised.

Initial responses union member responses to AV’s LOC:

“It’s pretty much mirroring the AVEA agreement. There isn’t anything new.”

“I would like to see more around recruitment and retaining long serving members who have shown loyalty through higher wages and professional development!”

“We get the crumbs if we are lucky.”
