On Monday 19 May, UWU attended a pre-consultation briefing with AV on upcoming Ops Comms changes to support end-of-shift (EOS) facilitation.
The new AVEA2024 agreement includes funding for an additional 84 FTE, which AV identified as necessary to properly manage the end-of-shift (EOS) process. The proposed changes would see 6 of those FTE positions implemented.
AV’s proposed changes include the introduction of a new role within SECCS, positioned above the Duty Manager (DM) level. This role is designed to take on some of the higher-level responsibilities that DMs currently manage on top of their operational duties. AV has proposed that the new roles should operate on a rotating roster to ensure 24/7 statewide coverage.
AV also proposed roster changes for Duty Managers (DMs) at Tally Ho, as well as CSPs and CASOs across both SECCs. These changes would include additional FTE where needed to support coverage. AV said that the extra staffing is intended to help address ongoing workload pressures faced by AV personnel in the SECCs.
Proposed changes to implement a 24-hour roster for CASO staff are facing strong resistance. Many long-term CASO members work part-time and have caring responsibilities, so this change would cause significant disruption to their lives.
If you are a CASO member, please be in touch with the union so we can advise you on your rights during proposed roster changes.
