On 17 September 2024, United Workers Union (UWU) wrote to Wilsecc management on behalf of Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) and union members, raising concerns about the transparency of the HSR nomination process. Workers have reported previous incidents where management deemed them ineligible or unsuitable to run for HSR roles, undermining trust in the process.
To improve fairness, UWU recommends:
- Publishing an updated list of nominees every three days during the nomination period (18 September to 2 October 2024).
- Distributing the list to all Triple Zero Workers and UWU.
- Providing existing HSRs with a list of workers in each Designated Work Group (DWG).
These steps aim to ensure a transparent and equitable nomination process, strengthening worker representation in health and safety.
