United Workers Union members employed in support roles at Ambulance Victoria will commence protected industrial action on Friday 21 November 2025 at 6.30AM.
Wages and conditions at Ambulance Victoria have stagnated for far too long. Under the Victorian Government Wages Policy, public sector employees are limited to:
- 3% annual wage increase, and
- An additional 0.5% only if “offsets” are found – meaning workers must trade away existing conditions or entitlements.
Ambulance Victoria support staff keep the wheels turning and the lights and sirens on. Behind every paramedic on the road is a team of corporate and operational support staff ensuring Victorians receive a safe, reliable, and responsive ambulance service.
AV support staff deserve recognition, respect, and fair wages.
UWU members are taking protected industrial action to challenge the Victorian Government Wages Policy, which fails to deliver conditions that reflect the essential and highly skilled work support staff perform.
UWU members are calling for:
- 3% annual increase per year
- 0.5% rolled into salaries with no strings attached
- 0.5% wellbeing payment — just like paramedics receive
- A real salary structure with progression and a fair future

AVMA Protected Action: Truck Messaging
All UWU members can take the action of stopping work to write campaign messages on Ambulance Victoria vehicles. This action can be taken so long as it does not disturb service delivery.
The following campaign messages can be written on Ambulance Victoria vehicles. If you would like to create your own message, please contact the union first so we can confirm it. This helps ensure that all messaging is appropriate and does not unintentionally offend members of the community.
